My Top Ten Best Films of 2018
I have seen a good amount of films this year. I had to endure some pretty terrible ones, but was lucky to see some really good ones too. Each one I would gladly watch again, and I had an absolute blast watching them all. Here is my top ten best films of 2018.
1. Black Panther
I have been lucky to see all of the movies in the MCU, but this one found a way to stand out from the rest. It was an amazing origin story with a stellar cast. The special effects were breathtaking, and the story was a strong one. This movie drew in tons of new fans, and proved that good things come to those who wait.
2. Bohemian Rhapsody
Another film audiences waited years to finally watch, and it didn’t disappoint. Rami Malek was the perfect choice to play Freddie Mercury. He brought so much to this role, and it was a joy watching this story unfold. The music was amazing, and the cameo by Mike Myers was hilarious. This was one of the best biopicsI have seen in years, and is absolutely worth checking out.
3. Creed 2
I was pleasantly surprised by Creed, so I wasn’t that shocked when I heard a sequel was being made. Adonis faces his toughest adversary yet, and pushes him to his limits. This movie had action, suspense, drama and was a lot of fun to watch unfold. Micheal B Jordan took this character to new heights in this sequel, and I hope we get to see him again in this role.
4. Deadpool 2
This was a movie that was better than the original in every way. It had everything fans love about this character and so much more. There is lots of violence, tons of action, it introduces tons of new characters and had a few surprise cameos too. The song at the beginning with Celine Dion was truly epic, and the laughs only continued from there. I hope we get to see more of Ryan Reynolds playing this character in the future.
5. Early Man
I have seen many of Nick Park films, and am a huge Wallace and Gromit fan. So when I heard about this movie I couldn’t wait to see it. And thankfully it didn’t disappoint. The story was a clever one and did a splendid job bringing these two ages together. It has a talented cast that did a wonderful job bringing these characters to life. The animation and sets are beautiful and the ending was quite good.
6. Incredibles 2
Fans waited many years for the next chapter in this series, and again it didn’t disappoint. It continued right where the last film left off, and did a great job bringing this super family back to the big screen. The one who steals the show is Jack Jack who made me laugh every time he was on screen. Although this movie got a little predictable towards the end it was still a well made, enjoyable sequel.
7. Avengers: Infinity War
Fans knew this story was coming to the big screen, and it was everything they expected it to be and more. It was a movie full of surprise deaths and some very epic moments. Josh Brolin does an amazing job bringing Thanos to life. The ending was a true shock, and I doubt any fans thought it was going to be so soul crushing. One of the darkest films I have seen in a while, and it is sure to change things in the MCU forever.
8. Spiderman: Into the Spiderverse
I have seen all of the Spiderman films, and this one blew them all out of the water. It did a wonderful job bringing all these different spider people together, and the way each origin story was told was clever and sometimes pretty funny. Miles Morales is the star of this story, and it was nice to see him finally make the leap to the big screen. You don’t have to be a huge Spiderman fan to follow or understand this movie. Stan Lee has a hilarious cameo in this film, and is a movie I think most ages are sure to enjoy.
9. Ralph Breaks the Internet
I really enjoyed Wreck it Ralph. I wasn’t surprised when I heard a sequel was announced. Although it wasn’t as good as the first film, it was still a ton of fun. It was chock full of internet and Disney jokes, and had some really hilarious scenes. If you liked the first movie, then this one it definitely worth checking out.
10. Isle of Dogs
So here it is, the best film of 2018 in my opinion. I am not a huge Wes Anderson fan, although I have liked his more recent films. When I heard about this one, it looked like it was going to be something special. It had top notch animation, an all star cast and told a clever story. This film had my interest from start to finish, and it truly blew me away. I can’t say one bad thing about this movie, it is one of the best movies Wes Anderson has ever made. If you haven’t seen this film, check it out. I promise you won’t regret it.
